Guided by our Christian faith, our children will gain the confidence, courage, and the self-esteem to live, “Life in all its fullness” (John 10:10).

Curriculum Intent, implementation, and impact (modified June 2023)

The school's statement is our vision moving forward and how we will weave the Chritian ethos into everything we will do.

Curriculum Intent

The school’s personalised curriculum is built on a foundation of Christian Virtues that embraces excellence and academic rigor so that all our children can flourish.

By prioritising the power of reading, especially early reading, our children will love learning and gain the knowledge, skills and understanding, as well as the cultural capital, that they need to succeed.

Curriculum Implementation

Teaching is designed to embed our Christian Virtues into the life and work of our school so that every child experiences the diversity of ‘life in all its fullness’. We work to ensure that our learners remember in the long term the content they have been taught and to integrate new knowledge into larger concepts.

A rigorous approach to the teaching of reading develops learners’ confidence and enjoyment in reading. At the early stages of learning to read, reading materials are closely matched to learners’ phonics knowledge.

Teachers present subject matter clearly, promoting appropriate discussion about the subject matter they are teaching. They check learners’ understanding systematically, identify misconceptions accurately and provide clear, direct feedback.

The resources and materials that teachers select reflect our ambitious intentions for their personalised programmes of study.

Teachers and leaders use assessment to help learners embed and use knowledge fluently and to check understanding and inform teaching as well as responding and adapting their teaching as necessary.

Curriculum Impact

We want our children to flourish so they are educated for wisdom, knowledge, and skills; for hope and aspiration; for community and living well together and for dignity and respect.

By wisdom, knowledge, and skills; we want our children to have nurtured academic habits and skills, emotional intelligence and creativity across the whole range of educational experiences they receive.

By hope and aspiration, we want our children to cope wisely and be resilient when things go wrong.

By community and living well together, we want our children to contribute responsibly to our diverse communities and develop the character that enables them to flourish.

By dignity and respect, we want to embed the basic principle of respect for the value of each person which involves continual discernment, deliberation, and action.
